Thank you for your interest in
Shadow Vale Nubians
I am proud to share these beautiful Nubian
dairy goats with you
The idea of breeding the finest in purebred
Nubian dairy goats has evolved into a passion which
has spanned the past 13 years - and certainly shows
no sign of relenting! In those years, I have been
privileged to work closely with some of the finest
Nubian genetics in Western Canada and the United
States. Over time, my appreciation for style,
balance, and elegance in an animal led me to
concentrate my breeding program around the various
bloodlines which I felt combined those attributes
consistently. Upon combining these genetics, and
through the careful combination of using CGS
programs, instinct, experience, and personal
preference, I am thrilled to now see in the Shadow
Vale animals the consistency in style, sound
structure, and quality mammary systems I had
envisioned years ago.

All does and bucks are tested
CAE negative & CL abscess free
Located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, the Shadow
Vale herd enjoys a comfortable, healthy environment
year round. For us, herd health is of great
consideration. The herd is on a CAE preventative
program; all kids are removed from their mother at
birth, fed heat treated colostrum, and pasteurized
goat's milk. To date, all does and bucks are tested
CAE negative, and I will continue to test twice a
year, to ensure the herd's CAE free status. The herd
is also CL abscess free. The goats are fed a
healthy, balanced diet. Everyone has access to acres
of pasture year round, which they utilize and enjoy
for exercise and browsing. In addition to pasture,
the goats are fed free choice 2nd cut alfalfa hay
year round, as well as a 16% balanced dairy ration,
according to their period of growth or lactation.
Free choice loose salt and minerals are always
available, and all vaccinations and wormings are
kept current.
Owning, raising, and showing
true champions
One of the greatest achievements in my time with the
goats, has been to own, raise, and show, the doe
that would come to symbolize the Shadow Vale herd,
GCH Golden Haze Moonlight Illusion 2*M (2E).
Illusion won three consecutive CGS West National
Champion, with West National Best Udder, titles, and
was also awarded CGS Select Doe status. This amazing
doe's presence can still be felt in this herd, as
well as in others. In fact, an Illusion son, *S
Shadow Vale Lunar Escapade (EX), was named CGS West
National 1st place Senior Get of Sire in 2000 and
2001. Another Illusion son, *S Shadow Vale Lunar
Mason, sired the 2004 CGS East National Reserve
Champion, with Best Udder. This is type of
consistency I love! Shadow Vale Nubians have also
enjoyed other success at the West National level. We
have twice been awarded CGS West National Premier
Breeder and Premier Exhibitor (2000 & 2005).
Official DHI
305 day and an annual one day (*M) milk testing
Shadow Vale Nubians also participate in official DHI
305 day milk test, as well an annual one day (*M)
milk test.
We typically always do well at our *M test, but a
few does really need to be saluted: GCH Shadow Vale
Executive Class *M (EX), GCH Windy Sky OS Vela *M
(EX), and GCH Shadow Vale Sun Chaser *M (VG88), have
all placed in the top three in Canada, Chase being
#1 in '03, Executive Class being #3 in '00, and Vela
being #3 in '98.
